Mid-level Bridge Engineer
Modjeski and Masters is looking for a Bridge Engineer with 5-10 years in bridge design experience in our Mechanicsburg Office.
Education and License Requirements
- A minimum of a BSCE from an ABET accredited college or university
- Registered Professional Engineer
General Responsibilities
- Perform structural design and detailing of major bridge components as one of the primary project engineers, with limited guidance from Project Managers and Senior Structural Engineers
- Assist Project Managers in identifying project issues and in developing solutions
- Lead CAD technicians in the development of contract plans, and in the layout of contract plan sets
- Assist in the guidance and supervision of entry-level engineers assigned to the same project
- Perform tasks on multiple, concurrent projects
- Works with clients, subconsultants, contractors, fabricators, etc. as directed by Project Managers
- Develop effective presentation skills
- Lead the development of design reports
- Assist in the development of technical and price proposals and
- Perform field and construction services assignments.
Skills and Abilities
- Broad knowledge of bridge analysis, design and detailing methods
- Possesses, or has the ability to develop, effective leadership and communication skills necessary to lead teams of engineers and technicians
- Problem-solving skills necessary to resolve both design and detailing issues
- Ability to identify appropriate steps in the bridge design and detailing process, and the initiative to complete the necessary tasks
- Increased understanding and awareness of global project aspects, including the proposal process, management of time and resources, and coordination with Subconsultants and other engineering disciplines.

Electrical Engineer
Modjeski and Masters is looking for an Electrical Engineer with 0-10 years of job related experience in our Mechanicsburg Office.
Education and License Requirements
- A minimum of a BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering with concentration in Electrical from ABET accredited college or university
- E.I.T. or P.E. a plus
- Submit to and pass a security background check, after hiring, for access to certain clients’ facilities.
General Responsibilities
- Design electrical control systems for both manual and automatic draw bridge operations
- Design power distribution for roadway lighting systems and movable bridge electrical systems
- Develop details for mounting electrical components
- Perform field inspection and evaluation of movable bridge electrical systems and write system evaluation reports
- Assist with on-site movable bridge electrical system startup and/or troubleshooting.
Skills and Abilities
- Should be familiar with control systems, PLC’s, relays, and basic electrical power distribution
- Should be familiar with basic electrical power calculations
- Should be physically capable of climbing ladders, stairways, and be able to work on walkways and platforms at high elevations, such as on high bridge superstructures during brief field assignments
- Must have good command of the English language with good oral and written communications skills
- Acquire registration as a Professional Engineer, if not already registered when hired.
Working Conditions
- Approximately 80 percent office work and 20 percent project site work
- Occasional travel with overnight stays
- Will be working with a team of electrical and mechanical engineers, under the direct supervision of the electrical engineering section supervisor, who is a registered electrical engineer.

Experienced CAD Technician
Modjeski and Masters is looking to hire a CAD Technician with 4+ years of engineering drafting experience in our Mechanicsburg Office.
Education and License Requirements
- Trade and/or Vocational schooling in Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD)
General Responsibilities
- Develop concept sketches, detail drawings and contract plans for transportation projects – primarily bridges and related structures – in concert with engineering staff and/or senior technicians
- Plan development will include coordination with highway plans (geometrics, topography and mapping)
- Develop plan quantities, as well as shop drawing reviews for construction
- Develop sketches for reports and proposals
- Assemble and/or reproducing contract documents for submissions, including electronic and paper copies.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge and experience with Microstation CADD software
- Experience with AutoCAD is preferred but not required
- Experience in structural steel and concrete detailing is preferred and the ability to produce precise technical plans and details using computers.
Working Conditions
