The Engineers’ Society of Pennsylvania offers two outstanding FREE social events every year to its members.
Our annual picnic occurs in August at the Lisburn Fire Company Grounds. Members enjoy steak cooked over a charcoal grill, corn on the cob, macaroni salad and other summertime favorites. A fifty-fifty raffle and door prizes are always a big hit. This is a great opportunity for members to network with other professionals in the same field.
In December, ESP hosts its annual Holiday Luncheon at the Susquehanna Club at New Cumberland Army Depot (DDSP). This event not only allows our members to take some time to themselves in this busy time of year, but also to give back to those in need. For the past few years, we have been collecting food and money donations to deliver to the Harrisburg Area Food Bank. Every year we are impressed with the generosity of our membership!
Throughout the year, the board of directors also plans other events for the membership including tours of local construction sites, factories, and/or businesses. With most of our members experiencing a need for Professional Development Hours (PHDs) in time for renewal of their state licensure, ESP has recently started hosting events to deliver PDHs to our members. We hope to support at least one such event every year.
ESP also supports the future engineers of our area. Every year the society awards two prizes to students participating in the Capital Area Science and Engineering Fair (CASEF) held at the Whitaker Center in Harrisburg. Volunteers from the society judge the engineering entries in the Junior and Senior division and choose one student in each category to receive a certificate and money award to encourage them to continue on in the engineering profession.
